Dr Alex Magaisa died at the age of 47. The reason / cause of death is reported to be a cardiac arrest. He passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2022, at around 10 am.
As soon as the news of Dr Alex Magaisa’s death was made public, tributes started to pour in from across the political divide. He was a lecturer at the University of Kent and former advisor to the late Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.

The late doctor died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. Dr Magaisa was a respected sober critic. Magaisa had been suffering from a heart ailment and died of a heart attack at a hospital in Kent, southeastern England.
According to a family member, Dr Alex Magaisa was rushed to the hospital on Friday following a succession of blackouts and a heart attack at around 10 am on Sunday. Doctors tried to save him and called his wife, but they couldn’t save him. He had died before the arrival of his wife.
His Big Saturday Read (BSR) gained him recognition within diplomatic circles. He used to publish them on a weekly basis. Political analyst Ibbo Mandaza made Dr Magaisa’s death news public.

People from all walks of life paid homage to Dr. Alex as news spread that he had died, with people from across the world honoring the gentle giant dubbed by angry young dissidents within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) as a kind giant.
Despite their opposing views on Zimbabwe and its politics, he and Magaisa had remained brothers, according to a government spokesperson named Ndabaningi Mangwana.
In a statement issued by the CCC President, Nelson Chamisa, he referred to his death as a major loss to the country. Chamisa and Dr Magaisa had worked closely during his tenure in Zimbabwe and GNU between 2008 and 2013.
Pastor Evan Mawarire, the #ThisFlag movement’s leader, praised Magaisa’s work and said it was beneficial to Zimbabwe’s democratic transition. Jonathan Moyo, an exiled former cabinet minister, called Magaisa’s death a loss for Zimbabwe.
Dr Alex Magaisa’s funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, although sources confirm that he will be buried in Zimbabwe.

He was born on December 9, 1975, in the United Kingdom, where he pursued his education and practiced law. From 2012 to 2013, he served as the Advisor of the then Prime Minister of Zimbabwe Morgan Tsvangirai.
Dr Magaisa had previously worked as a member of a group of specialists charged with drafting Zimbabwe’s new Constitution before wanting to serve as an Adviser to the Prime Minister.
The picture was taken outside the restaurant “Plot Cafe” in Green Street, Hurungwe. It features him with Zanu PF government ministers Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, and Patrick Zhuwao.
In July 2017, Dr. Magaisa found himself in hot water. He was forced to respond to the allegation that he had lied about how the photo was taken and debunked conspiracy theories about it gaining traction.
Dr Alex Tawanda Magaisa was married to Shamiso Magaisa, his wife.
