Tubelight Movie Review Rating: The latest Bollywood movie, Tubelight stars Salman Khan in lead role. Here is our review. The live audience response is also updated. Bajrangi Bhaijaan was the last film when Salman and Kabir Khan came up together. Now, they have made Tube-light.
Eid 2017 will be celebrated with Kabir and Salman’s latest film Tubelight. It is the story of a small-town simpleton Laxman portrayed by Salman Khan himself. Laxman waits for his brother Bharat (played by Sohail Khan) to return home. Being a soldier Bharat has gone to brave war at the Indo-China border as the film, Tube-light is set in the 1962 Sino-Indian war.
Tubelight Movie Review
Tubelight Movie Story
The film shows Laxman’s journey in finding his brother and his faith even when everyone else in the village makes fun of him saying that Bharat will never return. The villagers have nick-named Laxman as Tubelight because he takes time to understand normal feelings just like Tube light flickers before lighting up.
Late Om Puri has played the role of his uncle who teaches him of Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s principle of having faith in one’s belief. He friends up with a child named Guo (child actor Martin Rey Tangu) and his mother. Both are Indians but with Chinese background.
The movie has been made with good intentions to deliver and it does so, but with hardly any major plot. It has been stretched too much with approx 2.5 hours (150 minutes run time). The director makes the audience cry at some points in the movie, but it was more effective in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It’s not too bad, but BB was more emotional.
At some points in Tubelight, it feels like the emotions are forced up. At one specific point, one member of our review unit felt like cheated by the director. We won’t tell you the exact moment as we will avoid discussing that important moment and save it from the spoiler.
At times, the film seems to be not moving and just stuck at faith. It was all taking about faith. Salman’s character goes on with self-confidence whenever needed. To the most surprising, he isn’t a part of any action sequence except for just one scene where he pushes a racist person.
It seems like Salman has got through playing vulnerable characters with the recent movies he has been in lead like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The bonding between the on-screen brothers Laxman and Bharat has been the best part of the Tubelight. The director, Kabir has smartly used the real-life brothers on the screen as they are extremely close in the real-life too. The scenes of the brothers are natural and feel refreshing and hope that they may be next seen in some road-adventure movie.
Shahrukh Khan plays a cameo and seen in a crucial scene with Salman. But, it wasn’t so magical as people and fans talk about it in general, may be in real life. It hardly felt magical.
Tubelight Rating & Movie Verdict
On the whole, the film is good, but it could have been better. However, it was nice to see Salman playing new kind of roles with different kinds of scripts with movies like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan
TRT gives it 4/5 stars.

#OneWordReview… #Tubelight: Disappointing. Solid star power [Salman Khan]. Stunning visuals. But #Tubelight is body beautiful, minus soul.Tubelight rests on a thin plot… Screenplay lacks the power to enthral and mesmerise… Emotions plenty, but few moments stand out…Tubelight will have an awesome weekend + extended weekend [Eid festivities]… Will it touch ₹ 300 cr, ₹ 400 cr, ₹ 500 cr? I doubt!

While Salman has to be appreciated for attempting a glorious simpleton role, it doesn’t mean that he is consistently spot on. Some of his cheeky scenes are funny, but many fall flat and seem impossibly orchestrated. Watch this film if you love Salman enough to ignore the flaws in his film.

#Tubelight, first half, EXCELLENT, Laxman is killin it. Bonding between salman and sohail, srk’s cameo, om puri ji, matin and zhu zhu, everyone was great, and excellent direction #Tubelight (ट्यूब लाइट). First half specially goes on building the plot of the movie, however war scenes could have been better #Tubelight
Sara Ali Khan @SaraKhanWorld
What I loved about #Tubelight (ट्यूबलाइट) is its simplicity, it will touch your soul. The acting, music and story is heart touching! @TubelightKiEid

Done with 1st half of #Tubelight. So far good. Liked the emotional scenes, lighthearted moments and visuals. @BeingSalmanKhan @kabirkhankk #Tubelight loses grip in the second half completely. Didn’t like @BeingSalmanKhan’s performance. @kabirkhankk’s weakest film so far.

Tubelight presents Salman in full Forrest Gump mode. Laxman, the golden-hearted simpleton, not only loves his brother Bharat (Sohail Khan), he also teaches us to love our neighbours, during peace or strife. It matters not where the borders are; love conquers all. The message is perfect, especially apt for these manic times. The messenger is far from. The effort, on Salman’s part, to come off slow-witted, shows in every frame. It’s all feels constructed, and on the surface, with no nuance.
