Kaabil vs Raees 1st / 2nd Day Collection 2 Days Kabil v Raes First Wednesday / Thursday Box Office Business and Occupancy Report: The two big films have hit the silver screen together making it a big box office clash. SRK Raees movie started to rule worldwide due to a huge fan following. The Republic Day 2017 holiday will give it a good start. Both the movies have gained growth on second day.
While in a debate last month, Hrithik Roshan’s movie Kaabil box office was supposed to beat Raees movie collection, but now the odds have changed and seem to be favoring Shahrukh Khan’s latest release. The social and marketing strategies of SRK has always been better than his competitors. Thus, he has always been an extra edge over others.
Kaabil vs Raees 1st Day Collection
The last minute promotion strategy went wrong for Raees team. The several injuries and deaths which occurred gave the film a negative publicity. However, it is unlikely that the movie’s business will get affected. The negative publicity will be soon overtaken by the fan’s enthusiasm. And Shah Rukh Khan will enjoy the four day long weekend.
It is expected that SRK’s movie will enjoy its starting days to the fullest while Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam starrer Kaabil will enjoy in the long run. SRK movie is based in the 80s and 90s of Gujarat. The story revolves around a ruthless and cunning bootlegger named Raees (Shahrukh). He built his entire empire from scratch. On the other hand, Hrithik’s movie is a love story and revenge drama. Critics have stated in their Kaabil reviews that it is probably the best performance ever of Hrithik’s career.
The predictions were to earn around Rs. 20 cr and Rs. 12 cr for Raees and Kaabil respectively. The bootlegger’s movie may draw $1.3 to $2 million from the overseas markets. Also, Raees is released on around 2600 and 800 screens in India and overseas. While Kaabil has got around 2300 screens in the country.
Kaabil 1st Day Collection
Kaabil movie collection has taken an average opening in the morning shows, and it needs to improve to have a better business. The average occupancy for the morning shows was about 25% across India which is a little below than expectations. If compared, it is near about equal to what Hrithik’s last film Mohenjo Daro witnessed and was a failure.

It seems to be the lowest opening for Hrithik since Guzarish (2010). Some theaters were found to be almost no occupancy. But, it has taken a good start down South especially the areas of Nizam / Hyderabad where it has the stronghold and is leading. Everywhere else Shahrukh’s Raees is leading be it multiplexes or single screens.
The early trends of Kaabil first day box office collection
The performance of Kaabil is poor in North India except Delhi. Now, it seems that word of mouth is the only miracle which can save it and take a big leap over Raees at least in the first weekend. The better content of Kabil would make an excellent word of mouth and only can survive with it. There is no doubt that it will make a jump in the evening shows but that has to a significant one.
Kaabil Thursday collection Update (26th January 2017) Republic Day: The movie became the fourth highest opener for Hrithik after Bang Bang, Krrish 3, and Agneepath. It saw an increase in Mumbai circuit. It was expected to perform much better in some areas, but stiff competition restricted its performance. The film has grown by 5 to 6 times in some regions. Thus, the collections will rise at least by 50% due to holiday and word of mouth factors. It picked in night and late evening shows.

Raees 1st Day Collection
One of the most awaited movies of 2017, Raees has taken a big lead over Kaabil starring Hrithik. It was in the making for a long time and finally release on January 25. The republic day 2017 release has already got a great hype and buzz among the audience and the industry.

Though 2017 started with three flops, the two latest releases should end the dull phase. Let’s start with the Raees morning shows’ updates. It opened with an excellent occupancy of around 60% on an average. It has a very stronghold in areas of Mumbai and Gujarat. Some of the theaters are running houseful shows.
Moreover, it started with packed houses in West Bengal, especially in Kolkata. The occupancy can be considered as the genre is not a friendly one which every family would watch together. The film has got such a good response, and it’s all because of the Shahrukh Khan’s presence.
Central India has also recorded around 50% occupancy in the morning shows. North Indian traditional Hindi cinema markets need to improve if Raees has to get an impressive first day business. Other circuits are leading the North ones. If compared to Aamir Khan’s Dangal which has got the blockbuster tag, Raees has got a better occupancy.
It is anticipated that SRK’s film will boost up more in the evening and night shows. It is because tomorrow (January 26) is a holiday (Republic Day of India). The shows of the later half of the day will boost Raees collection to next level. Housefull shows are expected throughout the night.
Thus, it is evident that Raees box office collection of 1st day will be far better than first day collection of Kaabil. SRK will take a big lead on the opening Wednesday itself. It was evident even before the release when Shahrukh starrer got better advance bookings than Yami starrer. However, Kaabil got decent advance booking too. Let’s see if there would be any turnaround in the later half of the today.
Raees is faring big time, and almost single screens are running houseful across India. Moreover, multiplexes are also strong even when the genre is not public friendly. All the credit goes to the star power of Shahrukh Khan. It is increasing as the day is progressing. At some circuits, the opening is better than the Christmas 2016 solo release Dangal and Sultan which was an Eid 2016 (holiday) release.

Raees Thursday collection update (26th January 2017): SRK movie saw a significant increase in areas of Delhi NCR, UP, Rajasthan as the holiday factor came into play. It is expected that it will mint at least 50% more what it did yesterday (opening collections). The India vs England 1st t20 game affected the movies a little.
