Box Office Update: Indian cinema has been widely extending its market across the globe, and many recent releases are the examples. With Indians relocating to various countries across the world, all the Indian movies are now releasing across the world.
Even the market has been widely expanded all over the country and with broad expansion of Indian cinema, many filmmakers have stepped forward, and they have been spending huge money on their films for production and for promoting them.
Even the satellite rights have been an additional support and the remake rights; corporate tie-ups are the other benefits. Especially Bollywood movies have widely benefited with the market expansion.
Movies used to run for weeks and weeks in the previous days and now every movie is getting wide release and the makers have been recovering their investments in one to two weeks.
Many big budget movies have been getting 3000 – 4000 screens across the world However many of the movies failed to get wide occupancy on its first day except if the expectations are reached. Most of the films have been growing strength after huge positive word of mouth from the audience. Even the positive reviews have nothing much to do for such films.
Going deep into the analysis of the films released this year, most of the films failed to get atle asr 50% occupancy on its first day. Akshay Kumar’s Airlift has been declared as the first blockbuster of the year however the movie opened with 35% on its opening day.
With huge positive word of mouth, the collections got strength and the movie collected over Rs 150 crores in its final run. Adult comedies like Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 and Mastizaade grabbed 25 – 30% occupancy all over.
Sonam Kapoor created a huge sensation this year with the movie Neerja which ended as the biggest blockbuster among her films. The movie too got 25% openings collecting Rs 4.70 crores despite of huge publicity and a stupendous trailer.
Shah Rukh Khan has been back this year with his latest movie Fan which has been directed by Maneesh Sharma. The movie witnesses SRK in two completely different roles in the film and Fan got 50% opening all over and the film released in over 4600 screens across the world. Produced by Yash Raj Films, Fan managed to collect Rs 19.2 crores on its first day.
