Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Review: It’s impossible to view a sequel in solitude without making parallels to the original. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a similar kind of movie. The original film featured Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, and it turned out to be a box office hit and has since achieved cult status.
In 2022, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani attempt to recreate the same magic, with Tabu offering her support. Of course, filmmaker Anees Bazmee has added his masala and bliss to it. Penned by Aakash Kaushik, the movie’s plot offers a large canvas to exhibit their talents. Aakash has also penned film dialogues.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Review
At a hill station, strangers Ruhan Randhawa (Kartik Aaryan) and Reet Thakur (Kiara Advani) come across each other, instantly clicking. A song-and-dance scene follows it. This is how the bulk of Bollywood love tales commence. Ruhan and Reet end up in the abandoned haveli where Manjulika’s ghost is believed to have been held captive for the past 18 years.
Ruhan transforms into Rooh Baba in no time, persuading people that he can communicate with ghosts and the spirits of the dead. What happens if he unintentionally liberates the spirit that has been imprisoned for years? Will Manjulika avenge herself? Will Rooh Baba’s courageous actions be enough to tackle the situation?
Although there is a little common between the original and the sequel, the song Ami Je Tomar reminds us of the 2009 film. As a result, you end up comparing the two. Nonetheless, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a new narrative that stands independently.
Anees Bazmee seems to have done his job quite well while showcasing the horror genre. It seems to be catching viewers off-guard. The film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has the right quantity of humor as the direction appears to be fine. The director has been a part of comedy films like No Entry, Welcome, and Singh is King.
The nicest thing about any movie’s success is how audiences enjoy it. The viewers appeared to enjoy the film and laugh out loud at clean jokes. People were cheering, hooting, and yelling their lungs out during much of the movie.
The arrival of Chota Pandit (Rajpal Yadav) brought excitement and applause to a whole new level. He is the one character the filmmakers took from the original. His dialogues and facial gestures elevate the experience of the film.
The acting skills of Kartik Aryan adds more to the film. The audience enjoyed his strange and hilarious character with his acting, dancing talents, and comic timing. He managed to bring out some real laughs.
Kiara, like Reet, is lovely and straightforward, and she looks gorgeous in every shot. She sprinkled her charm throughout the film. Her chemistry with Kartik didn’t feel magical. I didn’t feel a strong spark onscreen even though there was sufficient flirtation and one kiss.
Then comes Tabu, who draws attention right from the beginning. She portrays a disciplined, well-behaved bahu in the Thakur family. Her experience in the film industry can be seen throughout the film. She has quite a big role post-interval with her curls, kohl eyes, and onscreen presence can’t be ignored.
Is she on par with Vidya Balan in terms of acting ability? That is something I would leave to your discretion. The make-up our ghosts/spirits get in Bollywood, though, is something I can’t get my brain around.
What’s the deal with this cracked, cakey white face? That was something I saw in Stree, then Roohi, and now Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Come on, ghosts used to look so much better in the 1980s and 1990s, and they were truly terrifying without the zombie makeover. I wish Bazmee had given it more thought and added more variety.
You won’t get disappointed by Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. It also doesn’t overwhelm you. It constantly cheers you up. It leaves you wondering about the logic of everything at times. However, it is a family entertainer that does not rely on hysterical humor to make you laugh.
