It’s a moment of rejoicing for Bakumatsu fans as according to the confirmed news, series got renewed for the second season. Not just renewed, the 2nd Season of one of the most anime till date, Bakumatsu is going to be released very soon. However, the date is not fixed yet.
The first season of anime series was released on October 4 and the announcement for the upcoming Bakumatsu season 2 came very soon. Bakumatsu is based on the Renai Bakumatsu Kareshi smartphone game. Official twitter account of Bakumatsu revealed that anime will be released in 2019.
Storyline: Bakumatsu story-line is focused on an actress who is in Kyoto for sightseeing around the city. While traveling around the city, she received a pocket watch from a mysterious man. Upon wearing the watch she passes through a Shrine’s Torri gate. After passing the gate, she finds herself gone past 150 years in Bakumatsu world. Now the discovery is about to find clues and watch to go back in time.
The anime was actually full of sci-fi action-adventure, however, the original game was focussed on romance more than adventure. Masaki Watanabe (KADO – The Right Answer, Bartender) directed the series at Studio DEEN.
The series is composed by Masahiro Yokotani (All Out!!, Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club franchise). The character designs were done by Hidekazu Shimamura (Clockwork Planet, Nodame Cantabile). MAGES composed the music. The opening song “Spiral Maze” was performed by MIKOTO. Eri Sasaki performed the ending song “Haruka Naru Tabi.”
The original game was launched for iOS and Android initially on March 14, 2017.
Here is the synopsis of the Season 1-
This story takes place during the Bakumtsu era in Japan. Japan’s history looked bleak during this time, and many passionate men fought over hegemony within the country, various ideals in their hearts. Shinsaku Takasugi, a samurai warrior from Choshu, attempts to sneak onto a ship run by Yoshinobu Tokugawa, his partner Kogoro Katsura at his side. Takasugi and Katsura aim to steal a legendary treasure that is said to have the ability to control time: the pocket watch “Jishingi.” However, the moment they obtain the watch, it is stolen from them by a woman dressed in black.
