Aligarh is one of the most controversial movie of 2016. Manoj Bajpayee is famous to make the movies which directly touches hearts of audience. He has done the same once again in Aligarh movie. Its one of the small budget masterpiece after Massan.
Both the movies were reviewed by well known film critic and Delhi Chief Minister as Must watch. Indeed the films does have a story which should be conveyed to the diversified audience. Both the movie targets mature audience and thus have limited scope, however Aligarh got famous in Uttar Pradesh after its initial launch.
Aligarh Box Office Collections
Aligarh collections was good on box office. Initially the morning shows goes good at UP, Haryana and Punjab. Night shows in Bihar steal the show. A movie based on story of a homosexual person was never expected to do such a great business in the states with various stereotypes living with.
The overall occupancy remains higher than any other movie in almost every theater on friday. Aligarh movie is made with a budget of less than 10 crore rupees (Although there is no official declaration or news regarding the budget of film.)
Moreover this movie will do a great business in overseas market after being published in the dubbed version. The Aligarh collections from domestic market is mere a start.
Shooting location was Aligarh, Agra, Bareilly and Greater Noida which is actually a inexpensive affair and the movie also doesn’t have any songs which has reduced the expenditure a lot. It would be a great tribute to First ever homosexual guru of Marathi literature Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras who took his last breath standing strong for his rights.
The total Aligarh Movie Box Office Collections for the opening day was around 3 crore rupees which is a great start for this type of movie. It could not expect much from domestic audience but most probably the broadcasting rights would mint out a huge money for producers.
Having less number of partners for the revenue share, it would a great success for Manoj Bajpayee if survives for 2 weeks on the box office.
