Akira Collection: Sunday (3rd / 4th Day) / 1st Weekend / Monday Box Office Earnings Report: Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira movie was doing great on the BO from the recent days. The movie had broken up huge with a house full release at the box office.  The last four years of Bollywood’s favorite actress was very well, and she acted as a lucky charm for many Bollywood superstars. Akira collection was a test of her in the BO being a solo performer with no other superstar. Her other solo performance, ‘Aaj Mood Ishq Holic Hai’ was successful in the BO. (Also See: Rustom Collection)

Akira opened very well at the BO with almost 30% occupancy in most of the theaters. Although the response on the opening day was not good as of any other recent releases the film is grown very well on the weekend. The performance on the weekend was marked up, and the film got the maximum out of it. The stakeholders didn’t spend much in the publicity and promotion, but the response was somehow better.

Being low on budget film, the hopes with Akira collection was limited but it grew with the weekend. Since there was no competitor in the Bollywood but film faced fierce competition in many segments of South India. The movie was one of the cheap jobs for the producer which minted out the estimated budget of 5.5 crores on the first day itself. The response was good considering the size of release.

Trade analysts marked it as a success for actress and director. AR Murugadoss recent directions had done a great business in the recent years. He is primarily making the remakes, and they are working well at the BO which gave some hope for Akira collections.

On the opening day, the show started slowly with limited space. The witty response during the morning shows was not right in fill up rate. Containment during the morning episodes was low but grown tremendously with the night and evening shows. Ticket prices were also not hiked which was also a reason for being average.

The movie performed better in Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during the night shows very well. The movie was good in the prime locations and the average circuits as well before being the only release. The film managed to get a good release in many theaters despite being low in some of the areas. The number of screen grown good on the second day.

The second day of the flick was good enough as the growth of 10% was observed during on Saturday. While on Sunday, another growth of 20% was observed. The trends were satisfying as the film had already earned a good amount of its expenditure. Being a successful movie, Akira couldn’t be termed as a super hit or hit, but it was good at the box office.

Akira 4th Day Collection – Rs. 3 cr*

Akira 4 Days Box Office Collections – Rs. 19.65 cr (domestic) + Rs. 6.76 cr (overseas) = Rs. 26.41 cr (worldwide)

During the two days, the film earned 11 crore rupees nett on the BO. While on the entire weekend, the film earned a figure of 17.50 crore rupees. Akira collection for Sunday was 6.5 crore rupees.
