PS5 release date (PlayStation 5): PS4 and Xbox One have been in the market for almost five years now. Speculations have started cropping up that when will the next generation PS take the challenge. The gamers should get ready themselves for the Play Station 5 release.
But with still no word at all from the official sources coming, one can hope that its gonna take at least from now on before this dream makes its entry on shelves. Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thon has said that Sony may very well come up with some kind of announcement by the end of the year, probably as the release the PlayStation 5 console by the end of 2019.
PS5 Release Date: When is PlayStation 5 Coming Out?
One may easily ignore such PS 5 rumors, especially with no word at all from the Sony, but if you have a good look at the name, may be something will strike your gray matter. Yes! In the past, Thong correctly predicted the release of PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro. So, it’s worth considering his statement.
And not only that, we have got Wedbush Securities’ Michael Pachter who believes that PlayStation 5 will be out in 2019 or 2020. The even sweeter news is that it will be backward compatible with PS4 Pro games. Apparently, Pachter has got a sane logic when he says that there may be chances that Sony may try to upgrade the whole stuff to a level of 4K only viewing.
It’s because the company is waiting for the consumer world to be saturated with 4K compatible viewing systems. So, in a nutshell, one can expect PS5 being a reality soon. It will take some time to shift to 4K stuff. So, here we come with all the expectations and a wish list for this largest selling gaming console.
When talked about the success of the PS 4, one can blindly say that it continues not only to be the current best-selling console, but one of the best sellers in the history. According to the yearly reports of the Sony, 20 million units of the console were shelled out of stores in the last fiscal year and add to that extra 40 million sold as of May 2016.
PS5 Specs: What are the PlayStation 5 features?
As there are no official announcements, so it’s difficult to assess what the all new console will sport. But, we can take its competitors into consideration with which it will compete when released.
For instance, Xbox One X sports an 8-core 2.3 GHz CPU with 12GB GDDR5 memory and a GPU with 40 compute units at 1172MHz.
The outlet, SemiAccurate has reported that developers already possesses the dev-kits of the upcoming console. As per the same report, PlayStation 5 will equip the AMD Navi architecture and AMD’s Zen CPU. Virtual reality goodies will be available at system level. So, Sony PlayStation VR is going to remain for a long time to come.
We suggest you to take this info with a pinch of salt.
Putting a dev-kit all-together means that the hardware will begin to age. If it is true, minor adjustments will be made, but the core capabilities of the supposed PS5 will be there. We are considering that Sony is not going to launch it soon, it becomes surprising to lock in hardware specs at this stage, which will eventually become outdated.

PS5 Price: How much PlayStation 5 will cost?
The answer to this question will not be clear until and unless we get some idea of the specs of the console. But if Sony decides to have a 4K only compatibility, PS5 surely will dig a big hole in the pocket.
Anyways, one surely will have a guess once Microsoft Corporation brings out its Xbox One X in the coming month but for now early estimates predict around £450-550, which is pretty reasonable for the performance on offer.
PS5 Backwards Compatibility?
The biggest question every time a gaming console is up for the release is that will it be backward compatible. To put it in layman’s language, will it support all the games tailor made for previous version PS4 or one will have to change the whole console setup to change between the games as one is supported by PS 5 and another favorite asks for the older version?
At the launch of the PS4 Pro, system architect Mark Cerny clarified this was not the start of a new console generation.
“I believe in generations. Generations are a good thing. So, philosophically, we believe in them. We believe they continue, and this is a mid-generation release,” he is quoted by Gamasutra.
The answer to this big question will be answered as soon as the specs are out. For now, the only thing one can do is to wait.
On the other hand, Microsoft’s head of marketing Aaron Greenberg believes that the future is without console generations. This probably means that Microsoft thinks X One as the start of the end of the console era.
Microsoft introduced backwards compatibility in Xbox One and capitalized on it while Sony lost this chance with PS4.

PS5 Games: What titles will come with PlayStation 5?
One can hope for the favorites like God of War, The Last of Us Part 2, Spider-Man< and Gran Turismo Sport to be a part of the games for PS5. Along with these ones will surely see the upcoming games like Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted 4 and Persona 5 on the console. We may see a return of an old favorite like Infamous or the Resistance series.
2017 was the year for some of the best ps4 games. Anyways, as soon as the Microsoft’s Xbox hits the stores, it will give an inferior tag to the present PS4 and that will surely make the makers at Sony think. Let’s see what happens and hope for the best!
The games we’re thinking of, include:
- Death Stranding
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Call of Duty
- FIFA 2021 on PS5
- PES 2021 on PS5
- Starfield
- The Elder Scrolls 6

PS5 VR: Will PlayStation 5 come with a new headset?
PlayStation VR brought a new success for Sony. With its sales high, it will be difficult for you to find in stores or even online. Moreover, the company keeps on updating its library with new content. The company should offer a better VR with PS5 as Microsoft has plans for its Xbox One.
Hope you got info regarding ps5 release date (playstation 5 launch date). Until it releases, hang on to TheReporterTimes.com for more updates regarding the gaming arena!
The bullshit is strong from this salty Sony fan. They already stated that they’re working on another type of PS4, no PS5 plans. Also, only 4K would be awful. Not everybody has or will have a 4K TV. Microsoft knows that, hence the 4K not being necessary to have improved graphics. A strictly 4K console would NOT fare well. Another thing to note is that Sony has stated in an interview before that “If players wish to play old games, they would pull out old consoles”. They’d sooner allow cross-network play with Switch and Xbone happen before they allow people to sell their old systems and play old games. That’s my two cents here.
