The verdict in Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial has been announced after jury deliberation. A jury in Fairfax, Virginia announced their decision in the Depp defamation case against his ex-wife Amber on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

The jury consisted of seven person panel. The deliberation began on Friday. Johnny had sued Heard for a $50 million defamation case in regards to an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. In it, she claimed to be a domestic abuse survivor. In response to Depp’s suit, Amber countersued her ex-husband Depp for $100 million.

On Wednesday afternoon, a Virginia jury sided with Johnny Depp in his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard. Jury accepted that Heard defamed Depp.

In a 2018 opinion-editorial essay in The Washington Post, Heard claimed she had become a “public figure representing domestic abuse,” which Depp sued for $50 million in damages.

While the essay never named Depp by name, his attorneys said it referred to allegations she made against him during their divorce in 2016.
